Valrhona Cocoa Powder (1 Kilo) by ChefShop Immediately

I've been a steady Droste cocoa powder customer for decades. One day I bought a black labeled can of Hershey's from my local supermarket, thinking I'd give it a try (this was 30 years ago, but even so, long after I'd discovered Droste), and found it so distasteful that I demanded and got my money back. However, just recently I decided I should look around and see. After all, the price of the Droste I've always kept on hand had gone up considerably lately. So, I buy a 250 gram (8.8 oz) box of Valrhona at my local supermarket for about 10% more than the Droste they sell and have been doing a taste-off of hot cocoa for the last couple of days and decided I prefer the Valrhona to my Droste. I guess my Droste days are over. Have not tried Callebaut yet, but am apt to do that if I can find it locally. The local shopping around here is very very good, so I doubt I'll be ordering any online (however, based on the reviews, I think I may try the organic Frontier offered here). In fact, I paid a lot less for my Valrhona 8.8 oz box ($8.98) pound for pound than I would have ordering the 1 kg box off Amazon.

Hot cocoa will be my primary use, however I do bake. The bake tests will come later, but I am not apt to switch brands for baking properties alone. I don't anticipate a problem.

Edit: My Taste-Off with Droste has me concluding after more than a dozen each that they are both excellent cocoas for hot cocoa. I'll probably buy and use both at least for a time.

Edit 2: Just bought my next box of Droste, I'll not give it up. I will say this: Droste is the only company in the whole world that knows how to package its products properly. It's next to impossible to screw up opening and securing a box of Droste Cocoa!Get more detail about Valrhona Cocoa Powder (1 Kilo) by ChefShop.
